WNDE Staff Volunteers at Food Bank
WNDE Staff Volunteers at Food Bank–Twenty-one WNDE staff members (and one family member), from partner to intern, spent a morning sorting food at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Headquartered in Irvine, the Food Bank collects food and distributes it through 470 member charities in the community. Since its establishment 30 years ago, the Food Bank has distributed 272 million pounds of food to the needy.
The WNDE team created “goodie bags” for Surf City’s 5K event, which, in turn, donates $10,000 to the Food Bank. WNDE staff member and participant Erin Johnson remarked, “It was actually quite fun. We had two assembly lines going which, of course, brought everyone’s competitive side out.”
Erin observed that the Food Bank staff was grateful for WNDE’s participation. She added, “It was great to see audit staff and tax staff working side-by-side because there is very little chance at work to interact with one another.”
The staff members who participated were sponsored by WNDE. Dave Doran, Managing Partner, said that the firm was pleased to support the work of the Food Bank. He remarked, “Orange County is known for its affluent communities, but we must remember that there are many among us who struggle each month to put food on the table. We’ve all received many blessings living in our prosperous society, and it is our great pleasure to give a little something back.”
