WNDE has welcomed 11 new interns: Sam Aarons (senior, attending CSULB, working in the tax department), Lucas Alfonso (junior, Chapman, working in the audit department), Jesus Barrios (junior, CSUF, audit), Clayton Dowdy (senior, Cal State San Marcos, tax, Carlsbad office), Tony Hoang (senior, UCI, audit), Nicole Racine (senior, CSUF, audit), Alelhy Ramirez (senior, CSUF, audit), Dayanara Ramos (junior, Cal Baptist University, tax), David Rodriguez (junior, UC San Diego, tax, Carlsbad office), Manraj Sahi (senior, Chapman, audit) and Kaylee Wan (junior, CSULB, tax). With four returning interns, there are now 15 total on the staff, the most ever.
Sandra Hague, WNDE’s Talent Acquisition and Brand Manager, explained that the new interns were recruited through on-campus recruiting activities over a nine month period. She said, “Our interns bring to our firm a diverse background of skills, a strong work ethic, academic achievement and leadership.”
She added that four of the new interns were hired as a result of their participation in WNDE’s inaugural 2016 Summer Leadership Program held over the past summer.
Unlike many firms, WNDE’s internship program is offered during the busy tax season, January through May, to give participants the opportunity to experience work during the firm’s busiest time. Interns participate in an intensive, three-day orientation and training, and then are assigned work performed by entry-level associates. Sandra observed, “As a result of this type of experience, becoming a WNDE intern provides students with ‘real-life’ experience and opens the door to full-time, permanent positions within our firm.”
