Partner Profile – Nitin Patel
A devoted professional, Nitin Patel, CPA has spent his entire career with White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP. He joined the firm in 1986 and earned his CPA designation two years later, in 1988.
“Becoming a partner at WNDE is one of my proudest career achievements,” said Nitin. He was admitted to the firm’s partner group in 1996.
As the Director of WNDE’s Audit and Assurance Department, Nitin is an expert in all things audit. He specializes in audit assurance and consulting for governmental agencies, including cities and specials districts. Additionally, he is the firm’s designated quality control partner with the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA) governmental audit quality control center. Nitin also performs tax services for individuals and pass-through entities. When asked to describe his personal philosophy of service, Nitin explained, “Client service is very important to me and I will work as much as needed to honor a commitment.”
“I love working at WNDE because I truly enjoy working with my fellow partners and staff,” said Nitin. One of his favorite work roles is sitting on WNDE’s Executive Committee.
Nitin’s father was a chartered accountant, which was a big factor in Nitin’s decision to pursue a career in the field. Additionally, he explained that, “the concepts and theory of accounting are very easy and I like the non-routine nature of the work.” Nitin is particularly proud of the fact that the “accounting bug” was passed down to his children—all three of Nitin’s daughters chose to become CPAs.
Outside of the office, Nitin enjoys watching sports. His favorite is basketball – Go Lakers! He also enjoys investing in individual stocks—not many people know that Nitin has a securities and insurance license. Conversely, Nitin isn’t much of a reader. When asked to name the last book that he read, he humorously responded, “I do not remember. Do accounting standards count?”
Born in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania, Nitin spent most of his childhood there. He lived in India for two years before moving to the US in 1973. He spent time living in Orange County and Westminster before moving to his current home in Irvine. Nitin is married with three daughters.
