Partner Profile – Deana Bowden
Deana Bowden, CPA has been a partner with White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP since 2006. Before joining the WNDE team, she worked for privately-held companies, publicly-traded companies as well as three CPA firms. She earned her CPA designation in 2001.
Deana is an audit partner whose area of expertise is auditing and business consulting. She specializes in manufacturing and distribution, nonprofit, construction, and employee benefit plans. In addition, she is involved in the marketing processes of the firm as well as mentoring and development of professional staff. Her approach to serving her clients is quite simple. She lives by the motto, If the client is happy, we’ve done our job.
When asked what she loves about working at WNDE, Deana replied, “I love the people I work with.” She continues to say, “We have a great team at WNDE, and they provide the support I need to work up to my full potential.”
Deana was drawn to the accounting field in high school. She took a required aptitude test when she was in 10th grade. The results showed that she had strong math skills and an analytical mind. Those results led her to study accounting at Cal State University San Bernardino, where she received her undergraduate degree. She then went on to study for and receive her master’s at Sacramento State.
In addition to her role at WNDE, Deana serves as a board member on the Orange County/Long Beach chapter of the Cal CPA society. In addition, she gives her time to the community by serving on two other local nonprofit boards. Deana also believes in the value of education and works at Irvine Valley College, where she has been an adjunct professor since 2011, teaching auditing, accounting, and QuickBooks. And although Deana doesn’t have much time to read, she does manage to read a good audit textbook or two.
One of Deana’s true passions is cars. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear her ask you, “Ford or Chevy?” In fact, at one point in her life, she raced stock cars. In addition to cars, she loves fishing and wishes that she had time to learn more about fly fishing. She also loves music of all kinds. On her personal playlist you will find anything from alternative rock to country.
Born and raised in the High Desert community of Lucerne Valley, California, Deana now resides in Yorba Linda with Keith, her husband. She has two teenage daughters—Jennifer, 16, and Rachel, 15. She loves being with her family doing outdoor activities and fishing in the Sierras. Deana says, “I love to be in the Sierras, mostly Bishop. It’s a place I’ve been visiting since I was very young, and I love reminiscing and creating new memories there.”
