Position Overview

The tax associate functions as an integral member of our tax team, becoming involved in various aspects of taxation. The tax associate is responsible for learning the fundamentals of the public accounting field and provides assistance within the client service team while developing technical and analytical skills.


  • Familiar with rules, regulations, and Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA and the Internal Revenue Code rules and regulations
  • Performs file setup, trial balance, and tax return preparation using firm tax software
  • Determines tax income adjustments and reconciles book income to taxable income
  • Effectively communicates with the client to receive information necessary to complete the assignment
  • Communicates assignment status with the engagement lead in a timely and ongoing basis
  • Meets rising standard of quality control
  • Attends Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training as scheduled

Required Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business or related field and minimum accounting units as required for eligibility to obtain CPA license
  • One to two years of demonstrated work experience in the accounting industry preferably in public accounting
  • In the process of, or actively pursuing CPA license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding, comprehension, and ability to articulate taxation and accounting concepts
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent research skills and analytical abilities
  • Familiarity with Lacerte and ProSystems Tax, a plus
