Position Overview

The audit associate functions as an integral member of our audit team, becoming involved in various aspects of the financial statement and audit review and compilation procedures. The audit associate is responsible for learning the fundamentals of the public accounting field and provides assistance within the client service team while developing technical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with the rules, regulations, and Code of Professional Conduct of the AICPA, pronouncements of the FASB, and when assigned to governmental engagements, gains knowledge of the GAO and GASB
  • Performs file setup, trial balance, and lead sheet setup
  • Reconciles client records to trial balance, which may include analytical procedures, and performs schedule computations
  • Reviews and updates client financials and summarizes client agreements
  • Effectively communicates with the client to receive information necessary to complete the engagement
  • Communicates engagement status with the engagement lead in a timely and ongoing basis
  • Meets rising standard of quality control
  • Attends Continuing Professional Education (CPE) training as scheduled

Required Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, business or related field and minimum accounting units as required for eligibility to obtain CPA license
  • One to two years of demonstrated work experience in the accounting industry preferably in public accounting
  • In the process of, or actively pursuing CPA license
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding, comprehension, and ability to articulate auditing and accounting concepts
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent research skills and analytical abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel)
  • Familiarity with ProSystems, a plus
