Position Purpose

A tax junior at White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP functions as an integral member of the tax team, becoming involved in various aspects of taxation. The tax junior is responsible for learning the fundamentals of the public accounting field. You will become familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures as well as the firm’s initiatives. The tax junior works as a team member and provides assistance within the client service team while developing technical and analytical skills.

Position Responsibilities

Tax Juniors will:

      • Under leadership, a tax junior will learn and uphold the firm values, policies and procedures.
      • You will develop sound working relationships with administrative associates, peers, and management to cultivate teamwork.
      • You will be expected to demonstrate initiative and taking primary responsibility for achieving set goals. A mentor will be assigned to you to help in developing and achieving those goals in order to advance your career at WNDE
      • Participate in departmental and other scheduled meetings and activities.
      • You will become familiar with tax codes and regulations as well as the rules, regulations, and Cod of Professional Conduct of the AICPA, and pronouncements of the FASB.
      • There will be various trainings to help enhance your knowledge with the various tax and accounting software.
      • A tax junior’s primary role is to prepare individual, corporate, partnership income tax returns, and other miscellaneous tax and informational returns.
      • Learn and Demonstrate valuable skills, such as multi-tasking, communication, and how to work in a team that will help you grow in this industry.

      • Demonstrates initiative, integrity, fairness, respect for others, professionalism, and begins to understand the balance between personal and professional responsibility
      • Develops and maintains sound working relationships with administrative associates, peers and management to cultivate teamwork
      • Learn and upholds the firm values, policies and procedures
      • Takes primary responsibility for achieving set goals
      • Participates in departmental and other scheduled meetings
      • Participates in meeting with assigned mentor and the mentor program
      • Performs other accounting, auditing and administrative duties as assigned

Information Technology and Resource Requirements

      • Learns and utilizes software and technology applications adopted by the firm

Expectations

      • Complies with all firm policies, procedures, and position responsibilities listed above
      • Represents self and firm in a professional manner in conduct and appearance
      • Achieves minimum total hours and billable hours as established by Department Director
      • Attains CPA license
Education and Skills
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, business or related field and minimum accounting units as required for eligibility to obtain CPA license
    • Demonstrated work experience and or internship/leadership experience obtained through related positions (i.e. campus activities, leadership roles, employment or community service.)
    • In the process of, or actively pursuing CPA license
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Good understanding, comprehension, and ability to articulate auditing and accounting concepts
    • Emerging leadership, project management, and team building skills
    • Efficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
    • Excellent research skills and analytical abilities
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
