Paul A. Treinen, CPA, began his career in public accounting in 1990 upon joining White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP.  He earned his CPA designation in 1992, and in short order, moved up the ranks and was named partner in 2001. Currently, he is a member of WNDE’s Executive Committee and is the firm’s managing partner.

Paul specializes in corporate and pass-through taxation and has a very robust individual client base. He works with a variety of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, hospitality, retail, real estate, and senior care and aging services. Paul is skilled in ASC740 income tax provision work and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, transactional issues, business formations, and strategic exit planning.

His early inspiration to pursue a career in accounting was his father. “My father was a CPA and then worked his way up in private industry,” shared Paul. “When he retired, he was the president of a New York Stock Exchange Company. He was a really hard worker. My father and my mother were great examples for me.”

In addition to his work experience, he values his clients, saying “I think all people, regardless of fees or services need to be treated fairly, with respect, and in a timely manner.”

When asked why he loves working at WNDE, Paul responded, “Honestly, I love working here because of the people.” He continues, “Our firm, as it pertains to our people, does not overly weight title with respect to people.  We are all the same, like a family.”

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton, with a focus in Accounting. He also holds a Certificate of Education Achievement in Business Valuations from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Hacienda Heights, California, Paul now resides in Tustin, California with Kristin, his wife of 23 years. Together, they have three sons – Trevor, 22, plays Division II basketball at Biola University. CJ, 18, is majoring in business administration at Texas Christian University. Brady, 14, is a soccer player in the U.S. Soccer Academy program and will be off to Germany to train in soccer for 10 months. Paul truly values his role as a dad and often reflects on a line from the leader of his favorite band, Social Distortion. The artist essentially describes the selflessness and responsibility that a parent should have.

Outside of work, Paul spends a lot of time outdoors, running and hiking with his dogs. He is an avid runner and enjoys working out. In addition, he loves music, especially live music. Over the last couple of years, he has developed an interest in psychology and what inspires and motivates people to succeed.
