At WNDE, we work hard so that we can play hard, too! Check out some of the fun things we’ve been up to over the last six months:
For starters, in November, the WNDE staff and families kicked off the holiday season with our 2018 holiday party. Held at the Yost Theater, the soirée boasted a Roaring Twenties theme. The WNDE team was encouraged to dress in period attire and enjoyed dinner, drinks, dancing, plenty of jazz, and gambling. And what would the holiday season be without a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus? The WNDE staff and their children were excited to spend time together at the Irvine office, singing songs and making Christmas wishes—what a way to close out a great year!
Tax season always brings its share of craziness and super long hours. But the WNDE team was up to the challenge and did a number of things to help relieve the stress during the busy time of year. The firm provided dinners Monday-Thursday from various local restaurant vendors. One evening in March, we hosted our annual WNDE Family Night, inviting families to come join us for a dinner served up outside the office by Olive Wood Pizza, followed up by an ice cream truck for tasty desserts. One Saturday in March, a couple of our partners whipped up an amazing pancake breakfast, so our audit and tax professionals had fuel for completing the work on their desks. Tax season fun continued with a day of massage chairs brought into the office and a Saturday morning of breakfast burritos. Then on April 15, we celebrated the end of yet another tax season with an In-N-Out Burger food truck for lunch and more ice cream from King Kream. In addition, WNDE’s tax department were treated to a wine-tasting excursion in Temecula. Riding a chartered bus, they visited two wineries, where they were treated to tours of the vineyards and lessons about the winemaking process. At one of the stops, they even had a French-style picnic.
Don’t worry, all the fun isn’t over. In the coming months, we’re looking forward to an Amazing Race event, WNDE style. In July, the team will head out for a day of food and fun. We’ll start out with a delicious lunch, then venture out into Huntington Beach for a little friendly competition. Much like the popular TV show, teams will be asked to participate in a combination of mental and physical challenges, including reenacting scenes from famous movies, performing hilarious dance moves, and even staging a zombie apocalypse, all while accumulating points along the way. May the best team win.
Who says accountants can’t have fun?
