WNDE Audit Managers Earn AICPA Certificates
As members of the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP (WNDE) has demonstrated its commitment to quality in performing employee benefit plan audits. To further demonstrate this commitment, WNDE Audit Managers Raquel Castro and Michael Glaab have earned Advanced Defined Contribution Plans Audit Certificates from the AICPA. In addition to their customary audit manager responsibilities, Castro and Glaab are the managers in charge of the firm’s annual Employee Benefit Plan Audit training curriculum.
To earn the certificate, they had to demonstrate the ability to evaluate and analyze the core concepts related to client acceptance, engagement planning, engagement analysis, concluding an engagement and guiding principles for defined contribution plan audits at an advanced level as outlined in the AICPA Competency Framework: Employee Benefit Plan Auditing. Areas the examination covered include:
- Planning and general procedures
- Internal control
- Net assets available for benefits
- Changes in net assets available for benefits
- Plan tax status
- Financial statement presentation, disclosure, and regulatory reporting
- Audit reports
Castro participates in all areas of the firm’s audit practice, providing audit and assurance services to for-profit companies, employee benefit plans, as well as non-profit and governmental entities. She began with the firm while still in college in 2007 and worked with the firm as an intern for two tax seasons, and became a full-time audit associate in September 2008. She is a 2008 graduate of Chapman University.
Glaab seeks to fulfill the firm’s mission statement of providing the finest quality audit services to clients while maintaining a high quality professional environment through maintaining client relationships, training and mentoring staff, and obtaining appropriate audit evidence. He joined the WNDE staff 12 years ago, following his graduation from Chapman University.
